The Path to U.S. Citizenship

There are many paths to citizenship. Whether your situation requires:

  • N-400 Naturalization Application;

  • N-565 Application for replacement of citizen documents;

  • N-600K Application for citizenship and issuance of certificate under section 322; or

  • N-600 Application for certificate

Requirements

General requirements for (N-400) naturalization are:

  • At least 18 years old when you file your application for Naturalization (Form N-400);

  • 3 - 5 years as a lawful permanent resident, depending on the classification you are applying under;

  • Have continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;

  • Be able to read, write, and speak basic English;

  • Demonstrate good moral character;

  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government (we provide study materials);

  • Demonstrate a loyalty to the principles of the U.S. Constitution;

  • Biometric Appointment; and

  • Take the Oath of Allegiance.

There are special provisions for those who have served in the U.S. military.
